The MBS Mock Trial Team run by Co-Presidents Sloane Fiverson ‘25 and Sam Yagoda ‘24, participated in the first round of the County Tournament on the 17th and 18th of January this year. The competitive trial took place at the Morristown Court House with the primary goal of giving students a real life look into how legal events are held. The mock trial lasted two nights, with one being the defense and one the prosecution for the team. Unfortunately for the team, the Defense did not win over the Judge or Jury, however the Prosecution won the Jury.
As the first year running the team, Fiverson and Yagoda were thrilled to have the experience of participating in a realistic trial. Originally, the club was started as a fun idea for law school aspiring students, but it quickly became a fully developed and dedicated team of inspired and dedicated students. Since this year the club considered their start up as a building and recruiting time, Fiverson is excited to move forward with it for next year. When asked about the turnout of the trial, she said, “the team was amazing, and although we did not move on to the next round, we gave it our all and had so much fun. What more can you ask for!”
