In January, 18 inches of snow dumped down in Buffalo right before the Buffalo Bills rescheduled wild card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on the 15th. The arena had to turn to locals for help, offering $20 per hour for community members to help shovel the stadium in preparation for the game. Shovelers were told to arrive at 2 pm EST and continue shoveling through to the evening. In the end, it was worth it as the Bills defeated the Steelers 31-17. The team then moved on to play the Kansas City Chiefs, unfortunately suffering a loss of 24-27.
The shoveling of the Buffalo Bills stadium went viral. All over social media apps such as Instagram and Tiktok images and videos of people trudging through the snow popped up. One Tik Tok even featured a local sliding down a stadium chute. Other videos of fans finding their seats in the snow were also posted.
This phenomenon brought the Buffalo community together as well as show pride for the local team. If the community did not all come together then the Bills would not have been able to defeat the Steelers.
