The Anderson Library is undergoing a new and improved remodel, speculated to open in the next couple months. It will remain located in the collonade between Beard Hall and Grant Hall, though with a new entrance in the center. Before the remodel, the library was one of the main gathering areas for students to study, do homework, or relax with a group of friends. After much love from the MBS community, it was time for the cherished library to get a revamp.
The new library entrance will open into an area with enough seating to fit a whole class. There will be brand new couches and a dedicated glass-fronted room for teaching. This room will be used for workshops, electives, and other meetings. There will be new seating against the back windows with movable shelves, showing off “one of the best views, in my opinion,” said Ms. Erinn Salge, Director of the Anderson Library and Student Activities. In the back, there will be two new study rooms that are reservable for group projects and other gatherings. These study rooms will further encourage great study habits amongst the student body. Salge’s desk, along with Ms. Kaitlyn Meehan, librarian, desk will be located on the right side of the library.
Although the library has been, and will be, a great study area, it serves many different purposes ranging from working to playing games. The library offers plentiful seating and a beautiful environment for any student to socialize. The renovation of the library aims to amplify this behavior, hoping to provide something new and improved to the MBS community by utilizing a comfortable, beautiful space to inspire creativity and camaraderie. It also supports the Value of the Year Independence of Mind by offering space to help bring ideas to life.
The new environment of the library will also give students opportunities for hosting club meetings. Each club will be able to have workshops and presentations in the glass classrooms that will have scheduled availability. Once the library’s remodel is complete, there will be an entertaining grand opening for all students to attend, so make sure to stop by the library and check it out when it opens!
