What better way to get into the Halloween spirit than to watch Halloween movies? Whether you’re a horror fan or not-so-spooky tales, you’re bound to find something to enjoy.
This year, Variety magazine ranked 21 of the best Halloween movies of all time. They included popular horror films such as Scream VI, Terrifer 2, Trick r’ Treat, and Halloween. While they all have separate plots, they are similar in suspense and gruesomeness. However, if scary movies aren’t for you, you may enjoy some of the other listed movies, like ET the Extra Terrestrial, Casper, and Hocus Pocus, which are less frightening and a bit more family-friendly.
When asked about their favorite Halloween themed film, MBS students answered with a variety of responses including: Scream, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Child’s Play, and Friday the 13th. Allison Delzo ‘26 said, “I like Scream because I like the way the suspense mixes with the plot and leaves me feeling scared. I also think the gore scenes are played out really well, and it almost seems realistic, which is what scares me the most.”
Whether or not you like scary movies, Halloween is a fun excuse to eat candy, cozy up on the couch, and sink your teeth into a good film. It’s all about enjoying the atmosphere around you with the sound of crunching leaves and Trick-Or-Treaters ringing your doorbell.
