Every holiday season, the Morristown Beard community comes together to participate in a heartwarming and impactful community event: the Toy Drive. This year, the Toy Drive is running from December 9th to December 18th.
This tradition, organized by faculty, staff and students, serves as an opportunity for the School to spread joy and bring smiles to children in need during the holiday season. The Toy Drive is a cross divisional initiative and incorporates members of both the Middle and Upper Schools.
A key organizer of the drive, Ms. Andrea Deventer, Performing Arts Department, said, “MBS has been collecting toys in collaboration with the Morris County Sheriff’s department for over 27 years. The toys are distributed throughout the community to those underserved families that otherwise wouldn’t have any gifts under the tree.” The Toy Drive is a symbol of the generosity in the MBS community and its commitment to service and compassion.
The goal of the drive is very simple: to gather new, unwrapped toys that will be distributed to children who might not otherwise receive gifts during the holiday season. By donating toys, MBS families help ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience the joy and excitement of receiving a gift during the holidays.
But the MBS Toy Drive is not just about collecting toys; it’s about creating a sense of empathy, community, and engagement. By making time for those who are less fortunate, MBS becomes a kinder space that understands the holidays are not just a time for celebration, but also for generosity and compassion. This Toy Drive brings the School together and is a great way to give back to the local community each season.
The Toy Drive continues to be a meaningful tradition that underscores the importance of the school’s mission of creating a compassionate, responsible student body. The event reminds the community about the importance of service and shows how anyone can positively impact those in need when they work with each other.
